Cho hỏi depletion tiếng việt nghĩa là gì? Hiểu thì hiểu sơ sơ đấy, nhưng mà người ta gọi là gì nhểy?

Depletion is the process of cost allocation that assigns the original cost of a natural resource to the periods benefited. For example: a mining company purchases mineral rights to a deposit for $5 million for a period of ten years. The cost of the natural resource, $5 million, will be depleted over the ten years of the benefit; i.e., it is the physical exhaustion of a natural resource (e.g., timber, oil and coal).

Depletion is An accounting term describing the amortization of assets that can be physically reduced.

Unlike depreciation and amortization, which mainly describe the deduction of expenses due to the aging of equipment and property, depletion is the actual physical reduction of natural resources by companies.

For example, coal mines, oil fields and other natural resources are depleted on company accounting statements. This reduction in the quantity of resources is meant to assist in accurately identifying the value of the asset on the balance sheet.

Nghĩa là nó hoàn toàn tương đương với khấu hao (đối với TSCĐ hữu hình), hoặc phân bổ- amortisation- đối với TS vô hình. Ở đây khi nói the cost of USD 5 mil will be depleted over the ten years , ta tạm dịch là được phân bổ trong vòng 10 năm. Nhưng nếu nói là the resourses are depleted over the ten years thì có lẽ phải dịch là được khai thác hết trong vòng 10 năm.

If the asset is a natural resource, such as forest land or mineral deposits, similar expenses would be called depletion. If the asset is intangible (e.g., a patent), its original cost would be amortized over the periods when benefits are obtained or, in some cases, over an arbitrary period.

Trong trường hợp này nó vẫn được là khấu hao phải không ạ? Cái này nằm trong mục Depreciation. Em dịch là khấu hao tài sản hữu hình.

Có thể gọi nó là mức hao kiệt của các tài sản là nguồn tài nguyên thiên nhiên, như mỏ than, mỏ dầu, rừng... Nghĩa thì tương đương khấu hao, nhưng dùng cho các trường hợp mà khi dùng, khai thác qua thời gian thì "tài sản" đó sẽ dần "empty"/ hay cạn kiệt đi.
